Many pharmaceutical preparations, including injectables are lyophilized to preserve their physical integrity and biological activity during storage. Combined with Aerial’s extensive expertise, our experimental freeze-drying laboratory enhances our offerings to the bio-industries. 

The Louis Rey Freeze-Drying Laboratory specializes in the formulation and development of freeze-drying protocols for therapeutic and diagnostic products.

Our activities include

Formulation

Implementing optimized approaches, studying interactions, and refining freeze-drying recipes.

Laboratory Analysis

Conducting thermal characterization of pre-lyophilization formulations and determining critical temperatures (total solidification, glass transition, eutectic, collapse).

Freeze-drying lab

Process Development

Developing and optimizing freeze-drying processes, scaling up, and characterizing lyophilisates (residual moisture, stability, container/content interactions, etc.).

Radiosterilization

Providing inter- and intra-company theoretical and practical training, along with expert technical and scientific assistance.

 

Training & Support

Applying Gamma, X, or electron beam irradiation to freeze-dried products in compliance with international standards for sterilization dose validation.

Our ressources

  • A pilot freeze dryer in an ISO7 environment (Telstar Lyobeta 25)
  • Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA), lyomicroscope, and BET equipment
  • Collaborative access to Aerial’s associated laboratories in microbiology, physico-chemistry, and dosimetry
