Microbiology Lab

Aerial combines extensive human expertise with state-of-the-art technology to perform a wide range of microbiological detections. We target bacteria, yeasts, moulds, and phages, ensuring comprehensive analysis for various sectors.

In the Agri-Food Sector

Contamination Detection

Identify sources of microbial contamination in production facilities and along the supply chain—whether it’s alteration strains or pathogens.

Incident Audits

Provide actionable solutions following audits in the event of microbiological manufacturing accidents.

Shelf Life Testing

Conduct challenge, aging, growth, and storage tests to determine microbiological shelf life.

Predictive Microbiology

Collaborate nationally with the Sym’ Previus network to predict microbial behavior.

Utilize molecular biology tools, such as Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) and qPCR with custom primer design, to provide a global description of bacterial communities and monitor specific species (e.g., during fermentation).

Process Evaluation

Assess the efficiency of decontamination processes (ionization, high pressure, plasma, air disinfection) and evaluate active substances (essential oils, disinfectants, antibiotics, phages) against target microorganisms.

Industrial Applications

Study microorganisms of industrial interest, including biopreservation potential and the characterization of technological flora.

Beyond Agri-Food

Health Products

Validate the radiosterilization of medical devices and health products such as prostheses.

Material Studies

Examine the antimicrobial activity of functionalized materials (textiles, surface coatings) and detect biological alterations in materials like stone, paint, textiles, or glass.

Fungal Resistance

Perform aging tests and assess material resistance to fungal attacks.

Our Capabilities

Our dedicated L2 and L3 laboratories are equipped with:

  • Bioscreen systems (200 wells – 200 parameters) and turbidimeters
  • Epifluorescence microscopes
  • Controlled incubators (temperature, atmosphere, and gas composition)
  • Climatic chambers (temperature and relative humidity)
  • PCR thermocyclers and qPCR systems
  • Flow cytometers and advanced bioinformatics tools
  • A comprehensive microbial strain collection (-80 °C), including CIP-ATCC field strains

Aerial’s microbiology sector delivers reliable, high-quality solutions, ensuring safety and innovation across industries.
